Service to the Fraternity

Last Update: 11/20/96
Help is wanted (well, actually, it's needed) to keep the Convention running smoothly!

Read through the following Assistance Requests from the Planning Committee chairs to see where you might like to provide service to our fraternity!

Many other committees have need of assistance, as well - it may be that none of these options are quite your cup of tea. Please feel free to contact the chair of any Planning Committee if you feel you will be more useful elsewhere!

Entertainment

Survey: Scott Jones, swj@dana.ucc.nau.edu
Volunteering: James Young, mayo@vnet.ibm.com

Not so much at the Convention, but in planning for it - if you have ideas about what kind of games and activities you'd like to see in Phoenix, email Scott for your own copy of the Entertainment Survey. Fill it out, send it back, and voila, the rest is history. If you're interested in assisting with an icebreaker or dance, contact James.

Safety & Security

Contact: Pamela, 916/893-5885, pamela@ecst.csuchico.edu

Safety and Security is looking for responsible individuals to donate a few hours out of their Convention, thus ensuring that this Convention will not only be fun, but safe. Help to monitor events, or serve on a security detail throughout the Convention.

Seminars/Workshops

twilyte@ix.netcom.com

The workshops committee is currently looking for volunteers to become workshop hosts. Your job as a host is to attend workshop(s), assist workshop presenter(s), introduce the presenter(s), hand out and collect evaluations, and validate passports. As a host, you may sign up for any workshop you want to host on a first come first serve basis. Your job is vital to making sure the workshops run smoothly and making sure our speakers have everything they need. Contact us early if you want a specific workshop or sign up in Phoenix if there are any open slots left.

Service

Contact: Josh Pihl, jpihl@sdcc10.ucsd.edu

Another planning request - get to your school's athletic director, or contact a local sports team's office and ask for some memorabilia or tickets to donate to our sports auction! A copy of a sample letter is available for those who need some ideas. All proceeds go to the Phoenix Chapter American Red Cross.

Sergeant-At-Arms/Floor Services

Contact: Roger "Badger" Clark, rwclark@ucdavis.edu

Floor Services personnel are chiefly responsible for keeping order and controlling access to the Legislative Session Floor. As a volunteer, you may find yourself shuttling messages, counting votes, or assisting reference committees in summoning people to meetings. These jobs are vital to maintaining communication for the legislative groups at the Convention! Be a part of this team and see the excitement firsthand, up close and personal!

Visuals - Opening Slideshow

Contact: Andy Lane, andyl@leland.stanford.edu

The Visuals Committee need slides or photographs of your chapter in action for the National Convention opening slide show. Please submit your photos to:

Alpha Phi Omega - Zeta Chapter
PO Box 3058; Stanford, CA 94309

Mark the envelope "Photos, Do not bend"

Be sure to clearly mark each picture or slide with your name and chapter. All photos and slides will be returned. Please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with the pictures.

Visuals - Closing Slideshow

Contact: Louie Hilliard, csalh@ttuhsc.edu

The Visuals Committee needs Fraternity-related one-liners (jokes that would be recognized across the country, no inside-chapter jokes, please) for the slide show at the closing banquet. Please send your jokes to Louie HIlliard.
