Convention Handbook Introduction About the Convention Before the Convention At the Convention Rules of the Convention | IntroductionAbout The HandbookCONGRATULATIONS!!! You're a Voting Delegate. Your chapter has elected you as a Voting Delegate to the Alpha Phi Omega 1996 National Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. After the post-election eupohria subsides, you may begin to wonder, "What does it all mean?" What is a National Convention all about? What does a delegate do? Was I crazy to volunteer for this job?" This handbook will answer these and other questions (except perhaps the last one) that may arise as the convention approaches. With this handbook you can gain a head start in preparing for your important role at the convention. It will also assist you in unraveling some complexities of the convention once you are there. The handbook is organized in three sections and an appendix. The first section provides an overview of the convention and the legislative process. The second section covers actions that chapters and Voting Delegates should take before the convention to be well prepared. The appendix reviews some of the rules that govern the conduct of business at the convention, including important concepts in parliamentary procedure. Your comments on this handbook are welcomed and will be used to enhance future editions. Please send all correspondence and requests for additional copies to the Alpha Phi Omega National Office, 14901 E. 42nd Street, Independence, Missouri 64055. This handbook is intended only as a guide, not a rule book. The Standing Rules of the convention will be adopted at the opening session. Please read all of the official National Convention literature to learn all the details about this convention. If you still have questions, please speak with your Sectional Chair.
