Who is Michelle?

I am an animator, a computer programmer, a dancer and a dreamer. I received my M.S. in Computer Science in September 1996 from the Baskin Center for Computer Science at the University of California, Santa Cruz and my B.S. in Computer Science in May 1989 from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign .

My thesis research used the Flock of Birds motion tracking system to animate a human skeleton modeled with bones and muscles by Dr. Jane Wilhelms. This research was part of the Animal Modeling and Animation project of the Santa Cruz Laboratory for Visualization and Graphics. I plan on putting my thesis and updated bibliography online soon.

I have done extensive research on the use of computers for choreographing and documenting dance. If you are interested, please look at my computer dance bibliography. I support the efforts of the Dance Heritage Coalition to preserve the legacy of dance and recommend Life Forms choregraphy software and the LabanWriter notation editor as documentation tools.

On September 21, 1996, Joseph Peacock Hill and I were married and we are enjoying the newlywed life. I also enjoy time with family and friends, dancing, theater, music, drumming, mountain biking, hiking, traveling, eating and laughing.
