The LA Chapter currently covers the region from Santa Barbara to Orange County. Most of our activities are centered in the Los Angeles area. We hold monthly gatherings, annual events, and provide resources to help local alums and prospective UCSC students. There are many ways to get involved. Here are a few:

Our Monthly Events Events    Come to one of our fabulous events! Held every other month, we do everything from hiking in Malibu to socializing on the Sunset Strip!    Check the Calendar for our upcoming events. Planning    Usually done potluck style at the homes of slugs throughout the region, Planning Meetings are an opportunity for Alumni to get in on the planning of events and the priorities and direction of the LA Chapter. Our meetings are held every other month.    Check the Meeting Agenda for upcoming planning meetings, meeting agendas, and past meeting minutes.

Our Annual Events Wine Tasting Event    Our biggest event of the year, alumni vintners and prominent LA Alumni help us to go all out in welcoming the Spring. Come for mingling and socializing with your fellow alumni while sampling great wine & hors d=92oeuvres. Summer Trip    The LA Slugs take off for a Summer Vacation together every year. A few of our past trips included Lake Arrowhead, Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve, and Santa Cruz Island. Meeting of the Chapter    Each Autumn, our annual business meeting is held to vote for new officers and discuss upcoming events. This meeting is hosted at fabulous LA Area locations like museums or historical places of interest.

Get Involved Membership    We welcome all UCSC alumni, their friends & family members to join our events and other programs.    We encourage all local Slugs to join the UCSC Alumni Association, as those fees make our programs possible.    Membership in the LA Regional Chapter is free and open to all UCSC alumni residing in and around Los Angeles.    There are approximately 1300 members and 7000 alumni inclusive in the Los Angeles area. Resources and Networking    A new LA Chapter feature, we've created web based Bulletin and Local Resources Boards. Slugs can list themselves as resources to other slugs in the region, announce events they're organizing or participating in, let other slugs know they're job hunting, and more! LA Slug Mentors    Become a mentor! LA Slug mentors are a resource to Slugs relocating to Los Angeles. Mentors provide a connection to the LA Chapter and other Los Angeles Slugs. Volunteers    We need volunteers to help with Chapter events! If you would like to volunteer, please let us know. Also, lead volunteers become "Members at Large." Members at Large are key organizers for programs like our Annual Summer Trip.
