Professors visiting to lecture

General Meeting

Basically we need help planning events for members in the Los Angeles area. We have a key group of people who have been very active in planning events, but we need help to bring future fun events to the Los Angeles area. Any skills or background you can bring to the group is appreciated.

Roz spoke about what happens at meetings:

The meetings are semi-monthly.
It is a great opportunity to do outreach and network.
It creates connections with current student issues, provides continuing influence on issues at campus and can influence current students

Being involved takes some time and energy. Everyone is busy, but our connection to Santa Cruz is important. Being involved gives us a chance to connect to the campus today and renew our relationship with it from the past.

to outreach to Alums in the area
to interact with the main chapter in Santa Cruz

Roz Helfand volunteers to be president.

The Main Chapter provides a lot of support to the local chapter in planning our major events.

If you are interested in becoming more involved please contact Roz.

Finance Report:

No specific report given. Michele Ploessel spoke as to the value of belonging to the Alumni Association and how the local chapter is funded based upon the annual dues we send to the Association.

The next event will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2003 at 11am for Dim Sum at Ocean Seafood.

Sunday, February 9, 2003. We will be starting planning for May meeting.
