Minutes UCSC Alumni LA, 7/9/98


Present:  Ken Feingold, Lisa Buschmann, Chris Ridder, Patricia Hernandez,
Cory Plachy, Annie Wells, Claude Zachary

Attendees trickled into the palacial main eating area of Bruno's Ristorante
between 6:30 and 7 pm on July 9, 1998 to meet with other enthusiastic slugs
happily sharing some of Dave Graves' leftover Saintsbury wine.  At some
point Lisa called the meeting to order as our chapter's president-elect and
current treasurer.  She stated that our bank account contains $1255.28
post-winetasting; we actually made $33.15 on that event.

The Santa Cruz Island weekend will be taking place as scheduled, July
25-26th.  There are still available spaces.  Moira and Ken will be picking
up Dr. Le Boeuf from the airport on the 24th and hosting him.  Lisa and
Claude will be doing the food shopping -- but, everybody, BYOB!

Claude will work on setting up the mandated Annual General Meeting to
conduct the election and general chapter business as an adjunct to a very
enjoyable and widely attended field trip to ...  the Wine House for a
beer-tasting, perhaps?  Other suggestions will be entertained.

Lisa made a heartful toast of appreciation to Chris Ridder in honor of his
hard work and laid-back style on behalf of the Chapter as President during
the last year.  We all rewarded him with a hearty round of applause.  The
Alumni office also presented Chris with an authentic FIAT SLUG sweatshirt.
Chris will be off to Berkeley.  The Chapter website Chris has hosted is up
for adoption.

Our next meeting will take place around a campfire on Santa Cruz Island on
July 25th.
