UCSC Alumni Assoc - LA Chapter
Minutes from 2/28/98 LA UCSC Alumni Assoc Mtg.

In attendance:  Ken & Moira Feingold, Chris Ridder, Susan Bok,  Claude Zachary.

Meeting began at around 3:10 PM.

Initial discussion focussed on the Summer field trip to Santa Cruz Island.
Ken has sent in an application to reserve the weekend of July 25th and 26th
on the Island.  If at least 6 people were interested in flying over and back
to the Island from Oxnard, a rate of about $100 per person could be
arranged.  We decided to finalize the mailer and publicity at our next
meeting and decide the minimum number of people we need to actually make the
trip.  The amount of about $125 per person for the weekend was again bandied
about.  We also discussed the idea of inviting a UCSC faculty member to join
us and give a few talks on topics pertinent to the surroundings and how much
of an honorarium this might involve.  Ken will broach the subject to Burney
LeBoeuf this weekend when he's up in Santa Cruz for a Board meeting.

The annual winetasting will be held at Bruno's Ristorante on May 30 from 2 -
5 PM.  UCSC will be handling the mailing for us (right, Dori?) and we're
tentatively expecting David Graves to be bringing Saintsbury wines for our
delectation.  Chancellor MRCG is also rumored to be interested in attending.
We'll hopefully have at least 50 people to meet Bruno's minimum.

The student recruiting events were called off this year.  Steve K. is off
the hook.

We prodded Chris to take a look at our website and perhaps do some updating.

Our next meeting will be held at the Feingolds' on March 28th at 4:30 PM to
allow for a potluck meal with wine after the meeting.  The main order of
business will be working up the winetasting and Island outing flyers.

Meeting adjourned at approximately 4:35 PM.
